Small Discoveries

Who knew . . . I would find so many little hidden gems in my neighborhood today?

Today was a great day!  I had my laundry done, my dry cleaning picked up, my bathroom cleaned, and grocery shopping put away all before 9:30am.  I know I was incredibly impressed too.  I was on FIRE.  I didn't stop there, I went for a run in Central Park, took care of some emails, had my hair colored and cut and met up with Megan and Kristina for manicures and pedicures.  The fun will continue when I meet up with Leslie tonight for a musical performance at the Jazz Center in Columbus Circle.  The tickets are compliments of Omnicom Group and I hear the seats are decent, we will see.

Gem 1: The laundry mat opens at 7am and is practically empty until 9am when it becomes a zoo.  I decided it is worth waking up early from now on rather then elbowing my way through a crowd to get a cart or unload a dryer full of clothes.

Gem 2:  I have shopped at the same small, cramped, crowded grocery store two block away for my entire time here and today I decided to go into another store closer to my house. I came to find out that even though the outside is quite frightening the inside is spacious, bright, clean, and there is a better selection of products.  I felt like I was in an actual grocery store!

Gem 3: Central Park has so many different roads and trails and paths on which to run.  I have two typical routes and today I decide to follow a different path and saw the park from a whole new perspective.  I even saw a hawk soar across the path I was running on and it perched up in a tree.  It was quite an amazing site.

Gem 4: I met with Megan and Kristina for manicures and pedicures at a local nail shop which I have been to many times.  The place looks like a factory pumping out women with nicely polished nails.  Today was no different until the receptionist/shop boss said to us in broken English "go downstairs".  I didn't even know there was a downstairs in the shop and was even more concerned because downstairs in NYC is usually not a pretty site (I pictured having my nails done in the subway).  When we followed the 3 ladies downstairs I was pleasantly surprised to find a nice sized room with three pedicure chairs and manicure tables.  The space was PERFECT for the 3 of us and was much quieter then the hustle and bustle going on upstairs.

Well hopefully my luck will continue through this evening.

UGHGH, I'm officially going to KILL my sister. I sent that saying plate to you in the mail about TWO weeks ago and JUST got it BACK!@#$%&. LOL. Kimmy claimed that she "totally had your address memorized" and apparently she DIDN'T. When I got the box back it said. "Whada' twakin' bout. No such address exists!" haha, okay, not really but the last part was true. SO... what is your REAL address? I thought I should go straight to the source this time, or this stupid little plate is gonna start getting really expensive. lol jk.
