Last weekend Emilie and I talked about taking a trip because of the long weekend. However when it came down to it neither of us had the time to really make it happen nor did we want to expend the energy or money on making it happen. So I decided that we were going to New York for the weekend. Here is our itinerary for the 3 day wekend:

Saturday: Leslie and I met up at a secret NYSC gym location (it was secret because I could barely find it) for a conditioning class and I then spent the afternoon on a trip with Emilie to the Natural History Museum to learn about the solar system, the animal kingdom, and the butterflies. We then celebrated the Chinese New Year were we tasted chinese food probably from Panda Express, petted the lion (a 2 person dragon) for good luck in the year of the rat, learned a song about dumplings and watched kids mal each other for free toys made of shiny paper. It was the most culture I have ever experienced in a church cultural hall.

Monday: I started out with a great run in Riverside Park and then met up with Emilie and Tracy to wander around the Met while looking at all types of art. I then spent the rest of the day shopping and getting ready for the week.

Friday night: We saw Stomp which is an amazing show that never ceased to surprise and amaze me. We then went home and made a delicious meal of chicken, roasted rosemary potatoes and steamed veggies.

Sunday: I helped Kirsten make a delicious brunch for her visiting teachees, made red velvet cupcakes for Heather's birthday party we had later that night, attended church, and relaxed most of the day.

There is nothing like being a tourist yet going home at the end of the day to sleep peacefully in your own bed. Have you ever vacationed in your own city? I recommend it.

Sometimes its fun to be a tourist in the city. That cupcake looked scrumptious by the way
