Who knew . . . what you get when you cross the Relief Society with the Nursery?

Background: We are meeting in the East side building with another YSA ward until renovation is complete on the Lincoln Square Building (should be several months - uhg the commute is tough, my internal jury is still out deciding if I have it harder to cross the park for church or the pioneers had it harder crossing the plains, I will let you know once I come to a conclusion). Needless to say the building is hustling and bustling with meetings on Sunday and we are putting every room to use requiring us to be creative and as I learned today a sense of humor is also essential.
Today I walked in to set up for Relief Society to find that the pianist had lugged the keyboard from the 1st floor materials center up to the 2nd floor and had it plugged in, balanced it on a folding chair while she was sitting in another folding chair trying to get the hymn book to stay open on the tiny wire stand attached to the keyboard. The site of this great effort to magnify her calling brought a big grin to my face. I quickly thanked her for her valiant efforts and insisted she use the only table in the room which sent me looking for another surface area that I could use during the lesson.
Yes! That is a picture of me in Relief Society today and that is the best solution I could come up with. My friend Megan snapped this picture with her cell phone because she found it hilarious that the best table I could scrounge up for our meeting was from the nursery. The table hits just below my knee caps but works much better than setting stuff on the floor so it serves it's purpose just fine.
Megan has titled her covert artwork "Giant In The Land of Midgets".
I have seen people texting during church but taking pictures? Seriously!?! It's a good thing Megan is one of my greatest friends here in the city, it was her birthday today AND she made several wonderful comments during the lesson which leaves me no other choice than to laugh at all this :) So for all of you out there wondering how the new calling is going let this picture be proof that we as a Relief Society are trying our best, learning a lot, enjoying the opportunity to serve one another and of course having a great time along the way.
PS - we had a fantastic birthday dinner for Megan that evening and the fried french toast and buttermilk syrup posted on The Daily Bite is AMAZING! Check out both the Daily Bite and Megan's blog to learn more.

Honestly, this was hilarious. I almost couldn't take you seriously up there under those circumstances. I was ready to crack up laughing but I used all of my social work "focusing" techniques and went to my happy place. It was there in my happy place that I was told that I should record the event for posterity's sake. Well worth it, I think!
Thanks for making my birthday a little brighter!
I don't know what you are talking about. That table would look normal sized with me standing behind it.
