Who knew . . . a little "time out" would bring so much joy?
Last weekend I took a little time out from the city to go to Time Out for Women in Springfield, MA. My friend Kim was speaking and his wife "The Lovely and Near-Perfect" Lois joined him too. It was fun to see Kim speak and fun to spend some time talking with Lois. My friend Kathryn joined me for the little adventure which made the good times even better.
The theme of the conference was Joyful Life and each speaker focused on how to have joy in life and find joy through living and having faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. We attended the Friday evening and Saturday morning sessions and were given the VIP treatment because we were guests of Kim's. By Saturday afternoon Kathryn and I decided to head back to the city and make a few stops along the way.
When living in New York without a car you have to take advantage of the opportunities to go to Target, Costco, Ikea and even better when you have a car to haul your purchases back. During our 2 hour shopping trip in Target Kathryn and I declared that we both were finding joy in Target. Then at Costco we found joy in a bin full of black and white cookies and at Ikea I found a lot of joy as I purchased a rug and dishes. (these purchases have transformed my apartment and I no longer feel like I live in a hostel. We have a set of dishes that actually match which is a big step up in life for me!).
As we crossed the state line from CT to NY we made our last stop at PF Chang where we found joy in the form of Lettuce Wraps, Orange Chicken, and the most joyful of all was the Great Wall of Chocolate Cake.
So all in all it was a great weekend and a weekend full of joy!

Aren't those great? Kim and Lo did "Time out for Couples" down in Dallas last year and we had such a great time. So jealous that you got to see them!
I got your card- so cute! Miss you!!!
your place is soo cute. the only time target and costco DON'T bring joy, is when you have a few screaming kids with you. but the remedy for that is a diet coke at target and a hot dog at costco, then the joy is back :) love all your posts!
That sounds like so much fun. I need to find some joy... from a great BB sitter for my kids. LOL.
Wanna come over and watch them while I make a trip to Tar-jshe'?

Oh what a truly wise woman you are. I wish I was currently finding joy in a Great Wall!
PS Have you tried Peaches on Broadway yet? Much like Pinkberry and Red Mango only closer. Isaac has committed himself to keeping them in business over the winter. We are afraid they won't last!
You did much better than me! I lived in NYC 6 years before I bought my rug. Although I did have matching dishes when I moved here. Congratulations!
I've felt like you should go to a "Time Out" several times since I've known you :) so I'm glad you finally did!
Sounds great to me too! There is nothing like buying something for the pure joy of it. And there's nothing wrong with it either! Right!
