Who knew . . .Christ is the reason we have Christmas?
My nephew Dallin (6 years old) reminded me of this last week while I was visiting.
Instance 1:
Dallin offered one of the best prayers before we enjoyed delicious cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning in between Santa and family presents. He remembered all by himself to offer gratitude for the Savior's birth and for the atonement. I was incredibly impressed that he remembered the purpose of the celebration and the reason why the Savior was born.
Instance 2:
A few days later Dallin was headed out the door to play with kids from across the street when Monica overheard him say "You don't know who Jesus is? He is the reason that we celebrate Christmas". I don't know what prompted this conversation but it goes to show that kids do listen and learn.
Of course there was a lot of excitement and fun and surprises with all the holiday festivities but Dallin knew the entire time why we were celebrating the season and he did a great job reminding me.
