Who knew . . . what I would do when encountered face to face with a rat?
Remember this post about the time I met a cockroach? Well last night I met a new NYC resident while running in Central Park and I had just about the same reaction.
I was running along the edge of the reservoir at dusk minding my own business and all of a sudden a rat ran out of the bushes and right under my feet. I screamed and started hopping around trying not to step on it and mostly trying to get out of the way. It was NOT fun to say the least. After that I saw a total of 4 rats before going home. Apparently the rats take over Central Park at night because these little creatures were not shy.
There are things I love about this city and things I will not miss. Add "a large rat population" to the list of things I will not miss.

have you never seen a rat before in the city?? i think i saw about 4 when i was living there. thankfully all on the street, and none in my apt. good luck with the running!
