Easter Parade

Who knew . . . what the Easter bunny did after he delivered the baskets and hid all the eggs?

Today I went to the Easter Parade on 5th Avenue and figured it out.

Apparently he ice skates in Rockafeller Center,

shops at Sack's 5th Avenue,

and takes pictures with his fans
at the Easter Parade.

The Easter Parade is not really a parade.  There are no floats, marching bands, old fashioned cars, or giant balloons.  Actually is a great chance for everyone to stroll down the middle of 5th avenue which is usually hustling and bustling with cabs and cars and buses and bikes.  So where does the parade part come in?  A bunch of people walk down the middle of the street and take pictures of about 50 folks that have come out to show off their easter bonnets.  Any one can participate and anyone can take pictures.  It is actually the most unorganized parade in New York (technically I think the Halloween Parade in the Village is more unorganized).  I heard about this laster year and didn't want to miss it for a second time.

Here are just a couple of the people and bonnets that I found wandering the street.

Dear dear Stephanie Bishopp... Hello? Remember me? It's been a long time, but not long enough for me to forget your name! I saw your name on my friends rachel gee's blog (she and I both live in the same town in NC) Anyway, I was so happy to see your blog and wanted to say hello. Looks like all is well in the big apple!
