The Book

Who knew. . . there was a "Who Knew?" book?

My friend Keila surprised me this weekend by giving me this entertaining little book.

A few of my favorites so far . . .

"The Hershey Kiss got it's name from the puckering sound made by the manufacturing equipment as chocolate was dropped onto the conveyor belt during the production process."

"The paper used to make money is composed of linen and several types of cotton, including denim - which gives it it's unique fabriclike feel and durability." (I actually knew this thanks to my parents taking us to the Mint in Philadelphia when we were kids)

"An ostrich's eye is bigger than it's brain."

And my all time favorite up to this point,

"The word news was coined from the fact that early daily papers carried images of globes on their mastheads and boasted that their reports came from all directions - North, East, West, South."

I sitll have well over 100 more "Who Knew" facts to go.  I bet you can't wait to read more, I know I can't.

Thank you Keila  for the book!

I TOTALLY knew about the money thing and I recently told Sean about it. The exciting thing about that is that it is rare for me to know something that Sean didn't know. The conversation started because he couldn't find some money that he thought he had. He told me that it might be in his pocket and he said, with great concern, "please don't wash any of my pants until I find the money."

I said, "why?"

"Because if the money is in my pants it will get destroyed."

"No it won't"

"Well, if you wash them don't dry them"

"Why not?"

"Because the money will turn to dust"

"No it won't"

"What will it turn into?"

"Wet money and then dry money"

I don't think he believed me when I told him money was made out of cloth. Now, he will! :o)
