Birthday

Who knew . . . my ride was waiting?

My birthday fell on a Friday this year. As normal I woke up, went to work, and was surprised (not really, it's pretty much a birthday tradition at work that I love) with cupcakes and singing from my coworkers.

The day before my friend Kirsten requested I was home around 6pm. I complied. When I came home the apartment was decorated in black and pink streamers with goody bags on the table and pictures of my hanging all over the place. Keila was there as well. Then Jen showed up. Jen brought the supplies to make amazing cream filled chocolate ganache cupcakes. She is a pastry chef so she showed us how to make the cream filling and ganache. It was so fun to have her there teaching us what to do, how to make the chocolate and all sorts of really cool things. Cyndi and Malia joined in the midst of this and helped finish up all the cupcakes. All this time I was surprised and had no idea what the agenda was for the evening but so far I was liking how things were going. Jen had to leave as she had other plans but everyone else stayed and we ordered pizza. We hung out and kept working on the cupcakes.

At around 9pm Monica comes home from work and told me to get dressed up because we are going out. At the same time my friends are arriving. For what? I have no idea. After I change I am shuffled out the door and down the stairs with an arm full of goody bags. As I got out to the street with friends all around there was a limo parked in front of our apartment building. Who knew my ride was waiting? Not me. What a fun surprise. I had no clue! We climbed in the car where we were all given a tiara and the driver took off.

We cruised around the city partying in the limo, stopping to take pictures, shouting hello as we passed pedestrians (kiss her! kiss her!), and having a great time. It was a WONDERFUL birthday. So many of my good friends all together having fun, I couldn't ask for anything more. Afterwards we came back and ate the cupcakes Jen helped us make. I went to bed exhausted from all the celebrating!

Who needs to celebrate the birthmonth? I had a wonderful birthday to last all month long!
